Happy Birthday Ellie Belly!

I can't believe it has been 4 years since Ellie's birth. I still think of her as my little baby, but she says she is my big girl. I was just flipping through a little book I made her when she was a baby and it has the story of her birth.

"Mom went up to The University of Utah hospital on Monday, the 5th of April at about 4:00 p.m. Dr. Draper asked mom how she was feeling and whether or not she wanted him to start the labor. Mom was in a lot of pain and was worried about the welfare of baby Ellie, so she and dad thought about it and decided that they better start the labor. They moved us into a room and gave mom the first pill to help start the labor. All night we were feeling hard contractions, but nothing was happening. Mom stayed dilated at a 3 all night. The next day at around 11:00 a.m. the doctors came in and tried another type of starter. That one wasn't doing much of anything either.
On Wednesday they moved us to a labor and delivery room where we hoped things would pick up. Daddy sat next to mommy the whole time reading a book while mommy moaned and groaned about the contractions. Finally things started happening and the anesthesiologists came in to give mom her epidural. The Student first tried to give it to her, but he hit a nerve and mommy started screaming in pain and vomiting. The baby's heart beat stopped and they quickly made mom lay on her stomach to try to get the heart beat going again. It was very scary for mom and dad. The other anesthesiologist finally gave mom her epidural and it went much better that time. We were dilated at 7 for a few hours and we thought we would be waiting another half a day or so.
After 31 long hours of labor mom felt baby drop once, then twice. Daddy was finishing up his book when mom looked at him and yelled at him to call the nurse and the doctor because baby Ellie was on her way. The nurse sauntered in the checked mom. The nurse felt Ellie right there and then got on the intercom and page Dr. Draper to come to room 7 right away. At that same moment Grandma and Grandpa Miller were walking down the hall to see how we were doing. They were passed by a crowd of Doctors and Nurses who were running down the hall to our room. Mama and Papa opened the door behind them to see mom in all her glory. They quickly sut the door and heard daddy telling mommy that she needed to push hard to get the baby out. Ellie was taking a break in the canal, which was not a good thing. Mom finally had a big push and out came Ellie, who was white and slimy. A nurse called out that they needed to bag her, which we later found out meant we need to give her oxygen, Mama and Papa heard that and really freaked out. A nurse came out and told them that they needed to wait in the waiting room. Grandma just lost it and assumed that we had lost the baby. After a long wait, Allen found them and told them that everyone was fine and that they could come see us. They first came to see me, after I was all cleaned up, and dropped off tulips and then they were gone again to see little Ellie Ann Ackerson who weighed 5 lb. 6 oz. and was 17 1/2 inches long. We were so blessed to have you and we cherish everyday you are with us. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful baby girl who loves everyone and everyone loves you."

Happy Birthday Ellie!!!
We watched that show three times this morning. When Emma heard it come on just now on your video, she came running over. Then said, "can we watch it again, ... please". Ellie is such a cute little Bella Cheerleader!

She is so cute dancing around.
Happy B-day Ellie!
That's scary about the labor. During my whole labor I was most scared about getting the epideral and apparently with good reason. Glad everything worked out well...you have a beautiful little girl!

Alrighty then, I'll never complain about my miserable birth with my oldest again.
Glad you both lived to tell that tale!
