Allen received his "Officer of the Year" plaque last night at the Elk Lodge in Bountiful. It was a really interesting night. They awarded officers from every city in Davis County, a few dispatchers from the county, a couple of firefighters and a couple of outstanding citizens. It was pretty long and by the end the kids were laying upside down on chairs and sprawled all over the ground. The Hostess for the night read a little bit about each person and Allen's was by far the most entertaining. Susan, who pretty much runs Centerville, wrote up Allen's paper. She explained Allen's nick name of "Spike" which he received about 2 weeks after starting on his own. Farmington was chasing a car right into Centerville, so Allen set up on the rode and just as they were coming down the street Allen threw out his spikes. The car missed the spikes, but the officer from farmington hit them right on. Luckily, they ended up catching the car in Centerville. When they were reading it last night they left out that the officer that Allen took out was also the officer that Allen had beat out for the Centerville job.
Last night I was thinking back to when Allen graduated from the Police Academy and we took family pictures then. Ellie was 2 months old and all of the family pictures she is just sitting in her carseat. Carson was so little too. I remember taking him out in the hall a few different times because he was being so crazy and wild.

Way to go Allen. That is awesome that he got the award so early in his career. I saw some cops pull a couple of guys from a car tonight by gun point. I thought about Allen doing that job. It's nice to hear when they get appreciated for their hard work.
